Xavier AK Update

Xavier de Le Rue in AK: insane riding in Valdez with Standard Films and on his way to camping project in Haines with Deeper

“4 days of good weather in a row. Insane snow! A good foot of fresh snow made me feel like I finally got to ride the real AK deal. Huge sloughs, some surface cracks here and there that kept our eyes opened but no big deal. We got on some kick ass terrain; some 1800 feet spine faces ... I'm stoked! It's been really cool to share that with Sammy Luebke, he really rocked with his smile and charging style. We definitely had some good fun...
Time to head to Haines and join Jeremy's crew for some AK camping. I can't wait to live that experience, and hopefully get on some more nice terrain...!”

Totally G.N.A.R.

It was quite the kick off to the Unofficial Game of G.N.A.R. this morning at the KT-22 loading dock. Competitors started to show up around 4:30 a.m. to get their 500 GNAR points for first chair. There was also some free Red Bulls (Give out 5 Red Bulls = 150 GNAR points), free breakfest (Cook breakfest with a camping stove in he KT line = 300 GNAR points), a massive JT Holmes pro call out ( yell, "Hey name, I can't believe you're a pro. I'm totally better then you!" = 50 GNAR points) and one naked Fingers line (Complete line butt naked. If jailed, you lose your points = 500 GNAR points).

Radical line and new victory for Xavier de Le Rue in Chamonix during the Nissan Russian adventure
Xavier de Le Rue won the Nissan Russian Adventure by Swatch, relocated in Chamonix due to weather and avalanche risks in Russia.
The competition site, The North-East face of l’aiguille pourrie allowed riders to make choices between relatively mellow terrain with freestyle options or fast steep line Alaska style. Xavier decided to go for the second choice. He performed it de Le Rue style, combining fluid fast turns with radical cliff drop and clean landings. This breathtaking line would go unequalled for the rest of the competition and bring back Xavier in the game to defend his back to back freeride world champ titles.
Here are Xavier’s comments about the day
“I was already in Chamonix few days ago for the freeride world tour and I had big crashes, totally eaten by the pressure. I didn’t recognise myself as I did such stupid mistakes. Today there was this line that really attracted me and that looked really natural. I went in there, the snow was great, I forgot about the contest, I just had fun and it paid off, it’s a really good and I’m stoked to be going to the Olympics with that victory. It kind of reminds me where I’m from and that’s good.”
Xavier will not even have the time to savour his victory as he will leave Europe tomorrow morning for Mt Bachelor, Oregon to meet up with the French snowboard cross team for a week of riding and off media solicitations before heading to Vancouver Olympic games.

More news about Olympic experience soon.
Xavier de Le Rue is supported by Rossignol, The North Face, Swatch, SNCF, Nissan, Relentless, St Lary, ABS, Dakine and Deeluxe
